Hyperdub
London label founded by Kode9 in 2004, grown out of the early dubstep scene.
Hyperdub was founded in London in 2004 by Kode9 (Steve Goodman), emerging from the UK's early dubstep scene. The first release was Sine of the Dub, a collaboration between Kode9 and The Spaceape.
Burial's self-titled debut and Untrue defined the label's melancholic, rain-soaked aesthetic and pulled it well beyond dubstep. Since then Hyperdub has moved through footwork (DJ Rashad, Jlin), pop-adjacent electronics (Jessy Lanza) and club deconstruction without ever settling, which is largely the point.
